SaskPower is planning several transmission line projects in south-central Saskatchewan to strengthen the provincial power system and support future growth. As new wind and solar generation comes online alongside existing generation in the region, additional transmission infrastructure is needed to increase capacity, reinforce the grid and move power to customers across Saskatchewan.
To support this need, SaskPower is planning the following projects:
- Southern Springs Solar Interconnection – approximately 7 km
- Poplar River to Drinkwater – approximately 185 km
- Tableland to Drinkwater – approximately 250 km
- Drinkwater to Coteau Creek – approximately 160 km
- Coteau Creek to Swift Current – approximately 155 km
SaskPower is in the early planning stages of these projects and have identified potential route options for each transmission line. The attached map shows the study areas and proposed routes SaskPower is currently seeking feedback. This fall, SaskPower will engage with Rightsholders, stakeholders and landowners to gather feedback, which will help inform the selection of a preferred route for each project. Attached are the information sheet, project map and letter that will be mailed to impacted parties this week.
